Many Liberty Definitives are divided into either Wet Printing versions or Dry Printing versions. The earlier printings were on "Wet" Paper while the later printings were on "Dry" paper.

|
||
|
|
The characteristics of the two different printings are:
|
|
|
||
|
|
"Wet" Paper Printings: This paper contained up to 35% moisture when printed. The stamps have a duller appearance and are on softer paper.
|
|
|
||
|
|
"Dry" Paper Printings: This paper contained about 5%-10% moisture when printed. The stamps have a sharper, shiny appearance and are on stiffer, thicker, whiter paper.
